Apples and Social Media

"Autumn is a mediator between summer and winter."
-Karen June Miller

I relish technology and marvel at its exponential growth! Years ago, I thought email and chat rooms were the bomb!  Then, once I realized that blogs were not just political parking places, I launched one of my own—and haven't looked back...

After years of successfully avoiding MySpace, my Pastor's wife invited me to be her "friend" on Facebook.  I was simultaneously reluctant and smitten.  I have now connected with just about everything that represents the sum of my life.  Yet as my Facebook thrives, many of my other networks are sitting idle simply because the connections grew sparse.

Based on another invitation, I ended up on Twitter.  I linked with a group of wonderful blogging ladies engaged in conversation that unintentionally placed me on the sidelines.  I thought it was a silly waste of time to watch rivers of randomness.  I stepped away until I took a Social Media class.  It was then that I grasped the greater possibilities of empowering friendships and business, albeit there are many narcissistic people on Twitter.

Establishing a networking presence takes time—lots of it—and patience.  It's much like planting apple trees.  Branches become heavy with fruit as we scamper for baskets!  Eventually, breathing regulates once boundaries have been set.  Then, we absorb the harvest.

I just cannot grasp "Twitter" even though I tried...but I am loving me some Facebook. I too have reconnected with many of my old High School friends and many old church friends and it's been awesome!
Crazy how all this works.....
