Autumn: Vintage Magazine Covers

Please enjoy these vintage September and October issues of McCalls, Good Housekeeping, Modern Priscilla, and Sunday Magazine. You will notice that some of the covers aren't typical of what one would expect for a Fall theme.

Oh I love it! As my friend would say (:

One of my favorite customers had an uncle, Uncle Ira, that would come into the store with his niece whenever he was in town (from New York). He was an older, handsome man who'd been the art director for Ladies Home Journal. He had wonderful stories to tell.

Where oh where is the original artwork for all these magazine covers?

I have fond memories of sitting in my Nanny's living room floor, scissors in hand, carefully cutting out around Betsy McCall and her fashionable outfits. That was nearly 50 years ago, and it began a lifelong love of paper dolls for me. :-)
